Satya Niwas - Chandigarh

Being situated in a city steeped in Architecture and a client who adores its legacy, one is bound to take inspiration from the iconic buildings of Chandigarh. The new residents of the 1600sft plot aspired for the luxury and grandeur of space. The facade plays in frames and highlights in the form of a majestic concrete awning arch and small planters with a pop of colour. Keeping in mind functionality, the concrete arch acts as a countertop on the eclectic terrace, though the residents like to use the space for family gatherings and sunbathing.
In terms of planning the main challenge was to design for 3 generations and a dog that loves to take part in all family activities. So to provide accessibility to all individuals, the house was designed around a vacuum lift enveloped with a metal and teak staircase placed at the heart of the residence enabling the young at heart grandmother to cherish all parts of the structure. In terms of interior design, the aim was to have consistent design detail and finishes yet give distinctive features throughout the house. The furniture is in teak and sleek finishes keeping the focus on open spaces, abundance of light and ventilation. Furniture pieces from sofas to beds, to partitions, to credenzas were custom designed for the spaces and given unique design details in terms of functionality and aesthetics, mostly both.

The idea was to create ahome that the client would run back from work to. A safe-haven, a dream come true.

House 968, Mohali
A nuclear family consisting of a teenager and a young adult engaged our services to construct their ideal residence. Situated within a row of houses characterized by uniform facades and interiors, they sought a design that would embody their distinct personalities and stand apart from the neighboring properties. Their requirements included communal areas, three bedrooms, a versatile lounge for various activities, a pantry, and an expansive kitchen featuring a unique color scheme. The kitchen was envisioned as the primary space for family interactions and social gatherings while preparing meals. They desired a home that was both minimalistic and bold. Ultimately, the project aimed to create a duplex that fosters unity among family members and addresses their essential needs through interior spaces and finishes.
A timeless design philosophy was adopted, utilizing the entire interior as a pristine off-white canvas to manifest tangible elements through premium materials, colors, and furnishings that reflect the client's concrete ideas. A significant challenge was to harmonize various materials, structures, and furnishings, given the diverse perspectives of the stakeholders. A central wall, potentially the stairwell, was selected to feature a skylight above, serving to unify the array of colors throughout the house with integrated niches. The skylight allows natural sunlight to illuminate the area during the day, while at night, the colored niches emit a warm glow reminiscent of lanterns.
A pivotal aspect of our design process was establishing a deep understanding of our clients. This personal connection was essential for crafting a truly customized experience. To be with them in every thought process.

Apartment 6221
This apartment is situated on the 22nd floor of a densely populated city. However, the clients wanted to feel grounded and cozy in their home with easy-to-maintain spaces.
The main door stands tall with veneer detail, inlaid with stone veneer. The entrance foyer is enveloped in warm polished wood that ends with a greige storage at the base to mellow down the wood. Each accent is carefully selected - a blown glass chandelier and even the vase and the trinket tray. The Drawing-Dining area is segregated by planning the functions in inverse directions.A horizontal blown glass chandelier serves as a visual partition and unifying factor. The sofas are upcycled adding a wooden exoskeleton to add drama to its exposed back. The exaggerated TV panel is broken down into different material sections to scale down the horizontal length. The dining wall consists of tons of storage that doubles up as a serving counter when hosting. The bar is a small niche designed in granite in contrast to the stone veneer to maintain a balance of - Materials, Textures and Proportion in the overall living room space.
The spacious master bedroom houses a curved bed to make the space feel warm and cosy for the couple. To eliminate the expenditure and effort of a false ceiling, wooden panels were created at the back of the bed that extends straight up to the ceiling with provision for wiring and lights. The furniture is kept minimal and sleek with floating drawers. The dressing area has end-to-end cupboards. A slide-out mirror acts as a privacy curtain and also additional space to get ready. The kid's room is much more playful and colourful with her favourite colour - pink in all corners of the room. We decided to keep the detailing in pink and the base white for her to have space for other colours and ideas in life as she navigates into her teenage in the years to come.
